This is the new olympic logo. Apparently it's meant to be the numbers 2012. Probably cost about £400m to develop.
Someone has posted on the BBC website that it looks like Lisa Simpson giving head...
Now get that image out of your brain!

I listened to them banging on about this on the radio on the way home and was expecting something really awful. However, I am pleasantly surprised but I wasn't expectint Lisa Simpson tobe part of it  . Seriously though, I like it. The pink version is okay but the colour isn't fixed (and the BBC site also shows an orange version) so that makes it far more useful than many logos. It will be instantly recognisable, is clearly London and clearly the Olympics.
It isn't as good as the Manchester Commonewealth Games one!

Drew, what planet are you living on??? It's the worst logo ever! Yes it's clearly London and the Olympics, but it also looks like some really rubbish 80s graffiti or something. "This is the vision at the very heart of our brand" -- really, your vision is jagged, broken up and not really represesentative of anything at all? Ohhhh, now I get it!

If this was just a draft, then I would say, that as a basic first idea incorporating the Location, the Year and the Olympic Rings then it wouldn't be bad for someone to work on and take to a higher level. As the finished product I think that it is *modded* (See, even modded myself).  Would also have like to see london spelt with a capital letter.
Considering the amount already spent in getting Voted to Hold the Olympics and the cost to run them, this Logo should be scrapped and a new Logo started on. I am 100% positive that someone can come up with something better before 2012.
IMO, at the start a Competition should have been run and a winner picked from the best x amount ideas that got into the Final.

Have a look at some of the attempts taht the BBC have posted and you'll see why everyone thinks they can do a logo and most people can't.
The other positive about the London logo is that it is nothing like the previous few olympics (including Beijiing) whose logos are all very similar.

| I quite liked the first one - the word London with the olympic rings in - but i'd leave out the "we've got the olympics in us" bit cos its corny and horrid!

I think you'll find most people sent them in because they thought they had done better.

funniest is that one of the images is reminiscant of an infamous net image... or it was until someone realised at the bbc

Personally, I liked the Logo that we used when campaigning for votes to be host of the 2012 Olympics. (At the moment am currently trying to find a picture of it, with little success). 
Any help out there please. :wink:

According to the News, British Olympic Chiefs last night axed their flashing logo from TV and the Internet after it gave 12 people FITS. The £400,000 design was slated for its cost and weird graffiti-style look after its launch on Monday. Then an epilepsy group warned that people were collapsing after viewing the moving on-screen version.
Didn't realize that the design took 1 year and cost £400k. Waste of time and money IMO.
