According to todays reports, Liverpool are considering keeping 96 seats permanently empty in the new ground as a tribute to those that died at Hillsborough.

When were 4000 + killed at a Bolton game....?

At the risk of copping some abuse on this......I think that's a bad idea.

By all means, honour those who died and create whatever memorial the fans feel is fitting, but leaving seats permanently empty isn't the way to go IMO. The fans who died would surely be happier (speculation, I know) to see the ground full of singing fans?

Keep the place full and meanwhile, erect a fitting memorial to those who died.

Probably not the best description given the nature of the thread Billy

Would they not do better to shut all the pubs round the ground and replace them with large clocks so that their fans can't get drunk and aren't late turning up for kick off?  I dare say the hypocritical bar stewards won't be leaving 128 seats free on the away end to honour the memory of the Italian fans they killed several years before??

Its a subject that i generally steer well clear of as i have never quite got my head around the fact that imo it (as well as hysel) appears to be the Liverpool fans' own fault although it is proported to be everyone elses fault....

Maybe i should do a little research for my own peace of mind.

I know what you mean, I try to avoid discussions about both stadium disasters for exactly the same reason

I'm with you both on this. You can't absolve the Liverpool fans of a share of responsibility but they won't accept that.
