I did wonder at the time, when she was winning gold medals by a country mile. But as time goes on, you assume she must be clean.
I'm now waiting for the next one, which could be Asafa Powell. Just allegedly, you understand. The way he smashed the world record in a 100m heat, whilst easing down over the last 5 meteres was something else. The last person I saw break the record whilst easing down was a certain Canadian......Ben Johnson.

| Maybe the athletes should be being tested every week on a random day but that still doesn't get around the problem that the drug developers are usually a step ahead of the drug testers. Maybe we should just make it all amateur again with no prize money and no sponsorship then the stakes wouldn't be so high. Of course, we wouldn't have any athletes over the age of about 14 unless they were independently wealthy.

Asafa Powell is a monster. He's ran close to the record 100m time so many times. Maybe he's just really, really good?
I hope for athletics sake he is because so many of the top 100m guys have been caught in the last few years - Chambers, Montgomery, Gatlin etc..

I hope so too. Maybe it's because of all these cheats that makes me cynical?
