Worse than Bruce David O'Leary has been mentioned and bookies have seen a small surge on him, well I had a tenner don't mind losing it as I am trying to jinx him...

There have been some changes in the Ladbrokes odds since yesterday:

              Yesterday Today
Paul Jewell      10/11   6/4
Chris Coleman     6/1    3/1
Peter Reid        6/1   10/1
Graeme Souness   10/1    8/1
Aidy Boothroyd   12/1   12/1
Glenn Hoddle     12/1   16/1
Phil Brown       12/1   16/1
Stuart Pearce    12/1   16/1
Gary Speed       14/1   14/1
Gerrard Houllier 16/1   16/1
John Collins     16/1   16/1
Iain Dowie       25/1   25/1
Ruud Gullit      25/1   25/1
Jose Mourinho   100/1  100/1
Steve Bruce       -      7/2

The biggest change is Chris Coleman from 6/1 to 3/1 plus the inclusion of Steve Bruce. The most worrying change is the shortening of Sounesses odds.

I am really not sure about Coleman. I prefer Jewell but I think Coleman would keep us up. I don't see him getting us back into the top 8. Mind you, I'd take a braindead Chris Coleman over a living Grahame Souness anytime.

I saw that somewhere. I think it was along the lines of 'he has told friends ...' I remember that with SA somewhere along the line and it wasn't true then. If I was Jewell I would appear reluctant even if I desperately wanted the job. Its better to negotiate from that position.

If Souness is hired I would seriously suggest a boycott of home games. Unbelievable suggestion.

Might as well tap up McClaren...

can't believe we went for Steve Bruce.what a crock of shite! What a clueless knobhead he is. He has had loads of money, which he would not get here, and still only produced a team of half wits.

For the first time ever i am seriously thinking of ending my 32 year 'labour of love'

I don't think Bruce is the right man, necessarily, but if Jewell does indeed not want to come, I don't think Bruce is much worse than any of the other candidates. No-ones gonna get someone like Mourinho to come to Bolton...

That's just pathetic.

why is that? I have paid my time and money over many years from one end of the country to the other, not sure it gives me that much pleasure anymore. People stop going for a variety of reasons, this could be mine.

Steve Bruce???? That muppet paid 2mil for DJ Campbell. He is a shocking manager and it just smacks of a club which is just clutching at straws.

I figured I was over-reacting, hence the editing of the post. I don't get to post on here often but it seems that everytime I come on, its just all negativity.

But then I thought about it, and there really isn't a lot of positives to
be talked about (don't tell Sammy Lee, Mr. Winner) so I've changed my mind.

EDIT: also, we probably are a club thats clutching at straws, but I'd still prefer Bruce over Reid, Hoddle, Speed and many others that have been linked.

I am often quite positive, yes i have my 'hobby horse' Nolan to moan about, but jesus Bruce would be such a retrograde step i really can't take it in. Really has knocked my socks off that, and my comments are prob a little over the top..but STEVE BRUCE..god help us  (B)

According to the MEN, its 100-1 for Big Sam to return at the bookies, same odds as Mourinho. I know which one of those long-shots I'd prefer:laugh:

Suprised we went for Bruce. Are we to assume he was the first choice? Perhaps Jewell was approached but said no?

Erm not sure about Bruce, done some good things with Birmingham but he's also had some miserable times there, he doesn't seem the most clued up manager, he certainly wouldnt be on my list... i'd prefer coleman or boothroyd.

Bruce is definitely not top of my list but he is above Reid, Souness (even I am above Souness), Hoddle, Pearce and Dowie and a few others who have been mentioned (including George Burley).

My current list (from those that Ladbrokes has odds on is:

Mourihno (no real chance)
Allardyce (fat chance )
Jewell
Collins/Coleman
Boothroyd
Bruce

I would not be unhappy with any of the first 3 realistic ones. Boothroyd is a risk and Bruce is not good enough in my book but better than any of the rest.

I think I prefer LSL to Bruce.  Coleman I could tolerate, just.  Jewell, well, he'd do, but I wouldn't expect us to achieve much.   Collins, don't know, no Prem experience.  Boothroyd, I'm not convinced.  As for the rest of the herd - Souness, Reid, Hoddle, Dowie, et al - I'd assume successive relegations to League One, or whatever old Div 3 is called these days. :X

Talk about be careful what you wish for...I am a bit worried we went for Brucie as it shows Eddie D and Gartside are looking to steady the ship and get the nearest thing to Sam Allardyce that's around.

It seems that Sammy was sacked without anybody lined up behind the scenes then?

It would seem so(?tion) Makes the timing seem a little strange, so long after the last game, not that long til the next one, and nobody ready to take Sammy's place...

"BSA was good, who's a bit like him... Bruce?"

"Get Brum on the phone"

thats probably the exact coversation that occured.

As I said earlier, or somewhere else anyway, maybe they only decided that it was time yesterday morning and once you have decided you can't just carry on as if you haven't but also go about lining someone else up. No-one would take the job under those circumstances.
