Saw Wall-E, the Dark Knight and the Clone Wars while in the UK

Wall-E - took me a while to really get into it but it's a wonderful little film.  To open a debate, though, I thought Ratatouille was better.

Dark Knight was superb.  A wonderfully interwoven plot where what could have been an excess of characters works with nothing being lost.

The Clone Wars was better than I expected - and better than The Phantom Menace.  A bit too childish in places (Jabba's son, Stinky - I mean really) but looked great.

Felon is a pretty cool movie.

Watched Get Smart yesterday, the trailer doesnt do it justice at all, and i wasn't expecting much - but absolutely brilliant - i dont think i've ever laughed so much in a film.

Just a note regarding "don't mess with the zohan" - my kids (13 & 9) love adam sandler, this film is extremely suggestive and should be a 15 imo. I've let them see a few 15 films and were not prudish with them by any means - but i wouldnt have taken either of them if i'd seen it first.

Picked up 'The Committments' for next to nothing in HMV the other day. You forget how good a film it is. Watch out for a very young foul-mouthed Andrea Corr!

Mind you, the Roddy Doyle Rabbitte Trilogy are excellent books.

***LITTLE KNOWN FACT ALERT***

I was watching Ghost of mars last night with the gorgeous Natasha Henstridge (Species) as the lead. An OK film at best.

However, did you know that she is going out with Darius Danesh of Pop Idol Fame!!!!! Unless, of course, Darius added that little fact to Wikipedia himself!!!

So there's hope for us all!

Back on topic, I'm waiting for Blade Runner on Blu-Ray to arrive.

Lock Stock was good, but doesn't stand up brilliantly on repeat viewings.  Snatch was okay, but diminishing returns.  Everything else (well haven't seen Rock&Roller) is shite.

Layer Cake was his made from Lock Stock, Matthew Vaughan who branched out to make Stardust which is not a great film but worth checking out as a near-miss.  It's also a change of style which Ritchie failed to do ... rather showing who might be the real talent.

Watched 'The Descent' the other night whioch was really good. made by Neil Marshall who also did the fantastic 'Dog Soldiers'. Not seen Doomsday so I can't comment on that.

But 'The Descent' was really scary with a great ending.

The Bourne Identity - Car chase through Paris.

The Mini " Craps " on all other vehicles.

Slightly reminiscent of the Italian Job.
But none the less a great car chase.

Of recent films:

Burn After Reading was ace!

My girlfriend went to see Changeling, apparantly also very good.

I've Loved You So Long (or 'Il y a longtemps que je t'aime'): very very good too.

Still prefer New Order musically ;)

Just watched District 9 - an original sci-fi (although some of the scenes aren't original) and well worth seeing.

I like Robin Hood, so I watched the new one with Russell Crowe. Good yarn and as with all remakes, little differences in the story.

I finally watched The Damned United. Pretty good. Can't make my mind up if it made Clough look good or like an aris though?

I also watched Death at a Funeral with Chris Rock.....made me chuckle from start to finish! I'd definitely recommend that one.

The Sorcerers Apprentice is more of a kids film, but again, a decent yarn and an easy watch.

Next up for me is The Disappearance of Alice Creed and Cemetery Junction, if anyone can tell me if they're any good?

Picked up "The Social Network" on Saturday.

Don't know if it is good or bad, althoug have read some good reports.  At the same time, think that I will have to be in the right frame of mind when I watch it.

Unfortunately, on days Bolton are playing, and especially if televised.  I don't consider a good time for watching Films.

Also picked up "Machete",  How to be cool Diary of a Wimpy Kid,  "The Last Arbender" and "Adventures of a Teenage Dragonslayer".

Okay 5 DVD's for £12, from a friend, can't complain.... Lol..

Social Network is brilliant.

Love David Fincher.

Zodiac is one of my favourite films of all time and he's done again with Social Network.

you won't like it if lots and lots of talking annoys you mind.
