It was a good win for Kahn, but very much in the way that his career would have been over if he hadn't.Without a doubt. If he had lost this, he'd have had nowhere to go.I wouldn't write him off as a no-mark.  He turned professional too early and has been treading water while he gets a bit older and stronger.  The fight against Prescott was evidence of that and probably necessary in his development - he's been fighting a better long fight since rather than hoping for a knockout.I know Pfm has views on many boxers being given easy fights and protected, but as we've said above....lose a fight and it could be the end of a career, particularly in terms of your box office pull. In the end, this is a professional business. The fighter aims to be the best they can and they need to earn their money. Their management team will want them to get that shot at the title, but they will do it without taking too many risks. So they pick opponents who are credible, but they think they can beat. Some might say that's wrong, but that's boxing.Certainly he needs to go up against better opponents to prove himself, and until he does there will always be questions; but I don't think he's failed to do so yet - he just started too early.Agreed, but Khan will never be without his critics. Just look at Calzaghe. The guy held his title for over 11 years and was undefeated in 46 bouts. But a minority will still say, "Oh, he wouldn't have beaten xxxx at his peak". Sportsmen and women are fitter and faster than their predecessors. The Man U of Munich may never have lived with the pace of the Man U of today, but that didn't stop them being great. Khan just has to keep doing what he's doing and say to hell with those who criticise him.

So,
anyone gonna watch tonight?

Myp2p would be my best bet for a free link. Never pay for box office.

I think this may well be a 12 rounder. Anyone thinking Khan is being fed opponents only need look who he's in the ring with tonight.

This is a contradictory statement? You think he's being spoon-fed opponents, yet you think it will go to 12 rounds?

I'll be watching. I really wanted to go to this as it has an excellent lineup, but I had to work today so I couldn't.

Khan's will be a good fight I think

Love or Hate Roach, he's one hell of a trainer.

Khan would kill Prescott if he faced him now.

5 punches a second!

why is Amir not a British legend? why do people hate him?

The guy just wished everyone a happy new year and called the prescott knockout a blessing in disguise.

The kid, which he is as far as a boxer goes - he is still, could be one of our best ever.

He's from Bolton, carries BWFC's badge, local lad done good.

Maybe he'll be right behind Haye for that SPOTY

I'm pretty sure Amir would love to go a couple of rounds with Meggo he does frequent the reebok after all.

He's probably felt like boxing his own eyes out on a few occasions 2.

He's pakistani and a muslim. Thats more than enough reason for most people. I hope he goes on to be a world beater...that will irk the racist shits no end.

to Bullet & Cowdrill

I'm sure, as would both of you, hope you were wrong on the matter...

...unfortunately, you aren't.

I know/knew Amirs Uncle, Mahmood(as he prefers to be called, as per the tradition of last name first)

He was a copper at Bolton, he gave me the ringside card to Amirs fight as the undercard to Joe Calzaghe, signed.

He also offered to come to my wedding with Amir as guests... lol

Mahmood, if you didn't know is also the father of Sajid Mahmood, the lancashire and England cricketer.

The family are fantastic, they are down to earth and always have been. This is why I always back Amir. He isn't cocky, he's just very, very good at what he does and more than anything it's green envy people have.

Ali lost 4 professional fights in his career, yet rightly so, he is regarded as the greatest.

Losing a fight changes a boxer, often for the worse, sometimes for the best.

Amir is grateful to Breidis Prescott, he changed his persona, changed his trainer, changed his mentality, changed his physique, changed everything.

Amir is a bolton lad, I'd like to think I would get a decent chat with the family if I bumped in to them some time and KNOW that they'd still talk to me as they are decent people.

As for racism and Bolton. It exists, though thankfully it is changing, I can see this. But it's still there, and it's not a racial divide, it's a class divide.

Full credit to Amir Khan the way he has been since the Prescott loss. He said he would come back stronger, usually it's just all talk from boxers but Khan has really gone out and done it.

Since getting Freddie Roach he's been outstanding, you could even see in the changing rooms before the match how fast Khan is, and how focussed and ready he looked for the fight. Salita didn't know what hit him, he was joking about in the changing rooms and got what he deserved.

Watching Prescott now, Khan would anihilate him, and he would take Hatton out in the first round as well. He's outstanding and I can't wait to see him take the next step up now.

absolutely spot on pal... apart from the Hatton comment. Hatton has made steps up and got beat as the opposition he was facing were nowhere near his standard. Khan would lose to hatton right now, but give Khan a year and he will be twice the fighter Hatton was in ability.

Hatton has gone beyond his capability by some margin, Khan is the best IN his ability right now IMO.

It would still be one hell of a fight but Hattons style of in close would be something Khan hasn't faced to date, so we can only speculate.
