Well after we tried and failed to sign Elmander in Jan 2007 because he was too expensive but then signed him in Aug I wouldn't be surprised to see a repeat performance and a renewed bid for Veloso.

Beyond that, we need:

Striker
LB
Creative midfielder (although wait and see with Mark Davies)

Hey - This is just like the last two windows.

Likewise.  :dude:
Can't see why there is a "January Transfer Window" Thread and a "Summer Transfer Window" Thread.

Thought the easiest solution would be just to have one Thread  "Transfers & Rumours" :whoknows:

Yes, we could call it 'Trumours'

Sorry - I was trying to compare Elmander in 2007 to Veloso in 2008.  See edit for clarification.

Let's post the usual suspects:-

Saviola, Tudor etc.

Come on, name and shame!

As we need a creative midfielder I reckon we should start trying to tempt Jeff Chandler out of retirement.

And that's my last say on the matter until May!

“To play in Europe isn’t easy and to come from Oman to England straight away would be very difficult,” he said. “But if you do what I did and play in a country like Norway in a good league then you can get experience before moving to a bigger club like Bolton or another team in the Premier League.

Nice one Alli  :niceone:

Megson quote today about Veloso

we'd have bought a certain player that would have cost us absolutely millions, I don't think we're ready for that, it would have been like putting a tiara on a big shire horse.

"We're not at that point yet, so we've got to get a squad and a team that is capable of getting results in the Premiership and moving on from there."

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT MEGSON IS ON ABOUT !!!

Whilst i agree sepnding millions on one player doesnt guarantee success bringing in World Class Players does help if they are the right type of player and you integrate them into the team rather than changing the team to suit the individual !!!!

In his own cack-handed way, I think Megson is saying we will not pay over the odds for players.

BENJANNI
or however you spell it, surely city would let him go for under a million seeing that he is in the reserves and they have billions?

If so, it wouldn't be too much of a gamble and he was excellent at Portsmouth

the Mirror claims today that the Veloso deal didnt happen because Arsenal fans were ringing his agent pretending to represent Arsene Wenger and Arsenal FC and that they intended hijacking the deal from Bolton

so Sporting waited and waited and waited for teh bid from Arsenal to come in

but it didnt exist!
