Gary Cahill has just been drafted into the England Squad, for the next two World Cup Qualifiers.  :niceone:  :Clapping:  About time, the "Little Clubs" should be noticed.  :P  ;)

He totally deserves this, hope he gets a chance somewhere along the line. Not sure he'll get sent straight in in a qualifier though...

He's no chance of playing but well done to the lad, very well deserved!

Maybe Mr. Capello does actually look at form and not what clubs the players play for... or maybe he knows who Gary will go to in the summer...

EDIT - just seen the story on Sky, didn't realise he was replacing Rio. Maybe he will get a game in that case. That almost makes me want to watch the match, but I probably won't...

Congratulations GARY CAHILL absolutely the reward he deserves for a great season very proud of the lad hope he gets a game and show's the rest of the Country what we know..

Please don't by him Mr Wenger

Capello remains a Prick though, as he thinks Heskey is better than SKD would one Bolton fans swap SKD for Heskey ? Yep Capello is a prick.. IMHO

He signed a 3 1/2 year contract when he joined the club.  But if as GM says "He wants to build the team around him", then I would seriously think about offering him a new contract pretty smartish. :dude:

Hmmmm upon studying the squad... I have been reminded that Gary Neville is in there... Maybe it isn't done on merit afterall then...

Well done, Gary Cahill, and good luck.

Meanwhile, on a phone somewhere in deepest Bow:

"Don Fabio, we need to talk"

"Yes, Sir Brookin, what you want"

"You picked a squad plyer from dir'y Bowl'on, why?"

"Was no-one else, Rio is not well, everyone else is in deckchair on Costa Plonka, even the Accrin'ton reserve centre back"

"But you're not gonna ply 'im are you?"

"You wait'n'see, Sir Brookin, wait'n'see - tha Mugasson, that jinjatossa, he say he very good, I need to find out"

To be continued...........

It's great to see our players getting recognised for what they do. I think he would be excellent for England, doubt he will get a game though.

Not surprisingly the BBC are annoyed.  They still list Ferdinand in the revised squad

Revised England squad:

Scott Carson (West Bromwich Albion), Robert Green (West Ham United), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers)

Wayne Bridge (Manchester City), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United),

Ricketts was already well down the slippery slope to oblivion long before his England call up due to advice from a fellow midland faded talent.

Surprised that Cahill isn't listed on the BBC as Cahill (Blackburn)

Sir Brookin’: “Don Fabio, I realise the joke now”

Don Fabio: “Sir Brookin’ whatta joke is that?”

Sir Brookin’: “You have selected Tim Cahill from Everton and not Gary”

Don Fabio: “But he’s a played for Australia already.”

Sir Brookin’: “Yes I know, but it’s better than playing a player from dirty Bowl’on”

Don Fabio: “Tie Me Kangaroo down Sir Brookin’’”

Well done Cahill. Truly deserved. Just hope he gets the chance to play, probably as a sub. Should do against a team like K'stan!

Calling all Bolton fans! Check this out... (look at page 3)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/F13708607?thread=6627281&skip=100&show=50

The arrogance of Spurs fans continues to amaze and disappoint me.

Some choice quotes:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What is it that Capello doesn't like about Woodgate? Cahill of Bolton ahead of the Tottenham man? No way." (robbieo79)

"is someone having a laugh. cahill a better defender than dawson or woodgate who together have contributed to spurs having the best home defence in the country?
has to be a joke right?" (footballandethics)

"What on earth is Gary Cahill doing getting called up ahead of Woodgate?" (Bellion-Wonderland)

"woodgate is solid. spurs home defence best in the country. capello is having a laugh. even dawson is better than cahill. must be a joke" (footballandethics)

And this one just takes the ****:

"Valderrama's Barber,

Woodgate has had a good season - better than Cahill's.

Woodgate is also a) a naturally better player than Cahill b) has far more experience than Cahill including European comeptition.

I think, if anything, playing for a bigger club is beginning to work against some players. An inverted snobbery if you will." (robbieo79)

"Evidently not as stupid as you. 29 year old Woodgate has just played 44 games in this season just ended.

Come back to me when Cahill has had a career like Leeds, Newcastle, Real Madrid, Boro and Tottenham.

Villa then Bolton, now that's real reason for hahahahaha." (robbieo79)

---------------------------------------------

Does anyone else just want to punch these two!? So typical of Spurs fans - talk about living up to stereotypes. Cahill is probably as good as Woodgate was when he left for Madrid and BEFORE he got his injury. To compare the two as equals now, is frankly, insulting to Cahill. Dawson obviously shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Cahill. The bit I've put in bold is just staggering! How could ANYONE suggest this in all seriousness!? The first possible instance of this EVER and suddenly there's an inverted snobbery rife throughout the game! What a joke.

It also perplexes me why so many people are so quick to put Upson in the starting XI? I would understand Lescott, but Upson for me isn't ever going do as good a job as Cahill would.
