Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered Wings:
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds-and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air;
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark nor even eagle flew;
And while, with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high, untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Woodgate is a very good defender to be fair. Better than Cahill? I don't know. Worthy of a call more than Cahill? I don't know.

What I do know is Capello picked Darren Bent ahead of Kevin Davies recently, so maybe those Spurs fans are on to something.

How good would it be if he not only gets his chance, but stuffs the words of the Spurs fans right down their massive gobs?

Does anyone else just want to punch these two!? So typical of Spurs fans - talk about living up to stereotypes. Cahill is probably as good as Woodgate was when he left for Madrid and BEFORE he got his injury. To compare the two as equals now, is frankly, insulting to Cahill. Dawson obviously shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Cahill. The bit I've put in bold is just staggering! How could ANYONE suggest this in all seriousness!? The first possible instance of this EVER and suddenly there's an inverted snobbery rife throughout the game! What a joke.

It also perplexes me why so many people are so quick to put Upson in the starting XI? I would understand Lescott, but Upson for me isn't ever going do as good a job as Cahill would.

M-M, I sympathise.

I used to get wound up all the time by Spuds fans and their views of the world. Then I realised its definitely them, not me.

I think there's something in the water that makes fans of London's clubs universlly deluded, arrogant and often obnoxious. Yet somehow, even in such company the average Spuds fan just manages to raise (or should that be lower) the bar that bit further.

The really great bit is that Spuds fans actually think that they follow a far superior club, despite all the factual evidence to the contrary.

I think Gary is following another great England centre-half, Jack Charlton, and keeping a little black book!

Page 1 Gareth Barry is now ticked!

We have to understand this is 'Tribal Football', the website that clocks up the biggest pile of shit ever. £130k a week for Barry? Ok the City owners might have money to spend but they aren't that daft surely!

Man City will now go into 'buy anything that's expensive' mode. You will see them chase one target and quickly switch to another when one falls through.

It makes you wonder if Mark Hughes is genuinely targetting a defined group of players or it's just a case of buying expensive players and assuming they will gel?

The latter I think. I really don't understand why they've spent money on Gareth Barry. Yes he's a decent player but he's a 'holding' midfielder and they already have two of them in Kompany and De Jong, if there's one position that doesn't need strengthening it's centre of midfield!

I don't think Mark Hughes is buying the players! When teams just start buying big names only you know it isn't the manager buying them. The model is one like in Spain and Italy - I'm the owner, I've bought a load of big name players, now make a team of them or your sacked and I'll bring in a big name manger as well.

Whatever happened to Gareth Barry's burning desire to play Champions League football? Unless I'm mistaken Citeh aren't in the Champions League. Or have they bought that as well?

Skysports also report a bust up between Barry and a team mate.

Apparently the "bust-up" was a foul in the box, followed by Barry getting angry and "ignoring" Cahill.

Mountain. Mole hill.

The sub-headline is hilarious

Barry scythed down after big-money move to City

As if he scythed him down because of that or as soon as he came out of the City stadium. :D

But they're a masseef club now ...... if Liverpool have 62 professionals in their squad, Citeh will have to have 70 at least.

Flamin Daily Mail did a piece on the "desperate" search for new England defenders (as in we must be desperate, we've called up a Bolton player).

The thrust of the article was that England should persuade Carragher to come back  to the England squad 'cos we need him, and they backed this up with some key stats from this season's  premier league comparing the 'best' defenders in England, which showed Carragher in a good light.

Where, do you ask, did Cahill feature in this list?

I can't tell you - the journo didn't even bother to include him in the table.

To$$ers.

Carragher retired himself from international football.
