Manchester United are watching Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.

The Sun says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's scouts saw him net his first goal for the Trotters during the Carling Cup win over West Ham last week.

Cahill, 23, has attracted interest from Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan.

Now Fergie sees him as cover - and one day a possible replacement - for Rio Ferdinand.

Really, and what do you base that on?

Is Fergie going to spend £20 million on a defender to replace either Vidic or Ferdinand? I think not. Would he spend that on backup for the afore mentioned? I think not.

Utd have 2 top quality centre halves and 2 good ones (Brown, O'shea) as back up so the Utd story is bollox IMO.

Obviously Cahill would rather play for Man U than us but the key word there is PLAY. We are 9 months from a world cup and consigning himself to anybody's bench would write off whatever dreams he had of making Capello's squad. I think he'll be here until next summer at least and then it's anybody's guess.

He'll be the focus of a "out of the blue" swap deal with Newcastle for a rejuvenated kevin nolan when they get promoted.

All megsons dreams come true in one deal.

Here we go !!!

Firstly, I never stated WHEN he would be going

Secondly, Ferdinand is starting to look a bit past it and injury prone

Thirdly, Where do you get your 20 million price tag from

Ah right so it's one of those he's a 'dead cert Utd player' but don't know when type of guesses? I don't doubt Utd might be interested but how could it be a dead cert if Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, AC Milan and Inter are also interested? Maybe he'd prefer one of those other touted destinations or do you know him personally?

On a different note, funny how Spurs are 'interested' a week prior to playing us. That wouldn't be gamesmanship or the southern media trying to unsettle our best asset would it? Never.

Fourthly, I would hardly class Wes Brown and John O'Shea as top quality centre halves!

Neither did I, I said good. The type of players you need in reserve who don't mind playing second fiddle to superior players. I don't think Cahill would want to be bench warming anywhere at this stage of his career.

If Cahill went to Utd he would be an England regular straight away. It's just the way it works unfortunately! Wes Brown gets called up ahead of Cahill at the moment! What's all that about??

If Cahill continues the way he is he will have some top teams looking at him.

I can see the logic behind replacing Rio Ferdinand but they already have Vidic and Evans.

Either way if someone like that comes in for him in the medium term and its decent money and he has done well for us I won't begrudge him going to further his career, which unfortunately is just the way it is. When that day comes I just hope he thinks about it (and Megson shows him some examples of players that have gone onto "bigger" things) so he just doesnt just end up on the bench.

I wouldn't take the Man Utd talk too seriously, they've been grooming Jonny Evans for years to take over Rio and he already starts a few games with Vidic. If I were Fergie I'd be looking for a left winger pronto, I'd be scared if Nani was let loose in my team.

Isn't exactly a transfer rumour but to save starting a new thread it was in the Mirror today that we're 'cashing in' on Lee Chung Yong and he's getting some sponsorship deals, supposedly Korea are going mad over him with his instant success here, can only be good news.

It was in the programme that his winner vs Brum made front page news back home, he is big business in Korea, add to that the fact we have a Korean sponsor and there's a Wrold Cup coming up...I wouldnt be at all surprised if Chung-Yong's transfer ended up paying for itself come the end of the season

Are there any Mega Mega rich Millionaires in Korea, who might be thinking of buying  a Football Club.   :whoknows: :P  :D

We could also then bring over his mate (please don't ask me his name) as well.  According to what I have read, when playing together, they are known as the "Twin Dragons".

Might bring a bit of excitement, and viewing figures should definitely increase in South Korea.  Might be a good bit of business.

Or is that just wishful thinking...Lol.

Chungys mate is Ki Sung-Yong who supposedly plays a midfield role like Gerrard, maybe without the diving. Celtic have signed him up and he's going there in January when the K-League is done, Seoul didn't want to let the 2 of them go halfway through the season.

As for QPR being taken over, where has that got them? Still the same midtable Championship side with Magic Magilton as boss, no thanks. As for Notts County there's considerable doubt about how much money is in that one, same goes for Portsmouth. What about West Ham? Nah.

Stick it out with Gary, this is a man with a plan baby.

I'm starting to believe megson is starting to get us playing better football and I think we can carry it on as well with gardner lee cohen all in the team we will play some good football I'm sure and then I think we might get a few thousand more in the reebok than we are getting.
Hopefully megson can keep it up and I can see no reason why he can't.
