Okay, I am not starting a new thread, for everything that goes on at Bolton. but from "The Offish Text", just received.
Joey O'Brien has just signed a new one year contract extension with Bolton, and is now tied down with the Football Club until the summer of 2011.
If he is not plagued with any more injuries, think that it is a good thing for the club, since he can play in most of the defensive and midfield places, so is good cover.

Difference is, one has potential, the other didn't.
Riccy .G. has also had more than his fare share of injuries, but always seems to come back stronger. Joey, hopefully will do the same.
At least it is a player that we don't have to buy in the January Window, who is only going to be used as cover.

??
Ricky had a few injuries, but Ricky is 30 now, Joey has had injury problems before he ever broke into the first team. He has been going round in circles and the chances of him ever having a good injury free run are very slim. If he comes back and ends up back on the treatment table with the same problems it's probably time to call it quits.
Nice guy, decent player to have in the team but if you went up to Four Seasons in Breightmet you could pull out a few of the elders with better sets of knees.

Okay Noch Eine "Offish Text"... I am not starting a New Thread, for text messaages, that come from Bolton, but have just been texted, to say that Jussi has just announced his retirement from Internation football having won 55 Caps for Finland.
Okay, when people retire from International football, means that they want to play Club football longer.
Jussi, is a player, that I admire, and hope that he is at the Club for a long time, hopefully going on to coaching goalkeepers, when Fred retires.

By the look of the picture on the offish Joey seems 30 now - the injuries have clearly taken their toll. Good luck to him, hope he comes back. I can only assume he is on a relatively low salary though.

I'm suprised by that but at the same tiime I'm not. I guess he doesn't see the point now they've failed to qualify for the World Cup and Finland are lacking quality players with Litmanen and Hyypia finished. If not for Niemi he'd have won a century of caps.

Scrote deserves everything he got.
but still there isnt much difference with what he did to gerrard, yet gerrard got away with just a slightly tarnished reputation.

Apart from the fact that King sexually assaulted and punched a woman, breaking her nose. No, not much difference really.

Joey O'Brien a half decent signing for the club? Are you on drugs? He can't tackle, can't pass, can't shoot, contributes absolutely nothing to the side, is long term injured 3 out of 4 seasons and would look almost out of place in a Championship side.
Who gave him another years dosh for doing next to nothing??? How is that anything like prudent business?

It's a case of discrimination against men. If Gerrard had assaulted a woman, he might have been punished. If everyone's equal, why do we have harsher punishments for crimes against women? Are men the "weaker" sex?

£5m? Now the latest financials have been published, 5p is more likely...

Been mentioned in other transfer-rumour threads. Nothing like the press to re invent.
Another one for the future !!!!
Bolton are ready to launch a £4m bid for Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll, who Wanderers boss Gary Megson sees as a long-term replacement for Kevin Davies.

| Watched the Toon v Shef Utd game the other night, Carroll is starting to look like he'll be a really good target man and player in a few years time.

Didn't we put a bid in for him a few months back?

Chris Basham has just signed a new 2 1/2 year contract, which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2011/2012 campaign.
Obviously, the above is from "Offish Text"

| I really dont know about basham. i think he is a squad player come good at best. He is not as good as Cohen etc but has a natural desire to do well. I think he's at his peak, i dont know why, I hope i'm wrong and he's far better, but I don't think he's "our answer".

| Couple of times I've seen Basham he's looked like he wants to pass the ball and run at players a little. Needs more experience, could be great, could be duff. I do like him.

Looks like McCann could be poised to go to Ipswich on an initial loan ... then sign permanent in January
