Who's everyone's money on?

I've got a bad feeling Valuev is going to do him in the 1st/2nd round but hopefully Haye will pull it off. At least it's in Germany so we can watch it at a decent time!

Don't know, but in the back of my mind fancy Hayes.  Think that he is too fast for the "Giant", so hopefully keep from harms way.  If he can get enough punches in, could possibly win.  Would like to see it though.

Hard to call. If Valuev catches Haye just once......it could be lights out? But seeing the pics in the 'Mirror' this morning, Valuev doesn't look in peak condition and I think he relies on his sheer size and power to get him through? If Haye can avoid him for 4 or 5 rounds, then Haye might catch him with a decent punch. Haye can also punch.....we shouldn't forget that.

But I can't make my mind up on this one.

Thought he was going to knock him out for a moment there, so close. Valuev did a silly dance.

Doesn't matter though. Well done Haye!!:niceone:

That Scottish commentator was pissing me off, kept saying the same old shit about how Haye was negative and Valuev was going to win it. IMO there was no way Valuev could have retained the title. He must have caught him about three times in the whole fight, Haye hit Valuev a fair bit more, albeit he only hurt him in the last round.

Haye's game plan was spot on, getting out the way straight after hitting Valuev. The only disappointing thing for me was he didn't attack him earlier than the 12th, he has a strong punch and showed he can take on the big men. I look forward to him taking on the Klitschko brothers!

Didn't see the fight, but will watch the highlights when it comes on.

Great Result for British Boxing, and well done Hayes.  :niceone:

Just goes to show that size doesn't matter... Courage does though...

Watched in a local German bar last night - Haye was excellent at keeping his distance from Shrek ... ooopps sorry Valuev.

This was a great fight, technically. Anybody who would trade punches with a 23 stone 7ft 2" giant would need their head checking. Haye drew him in and let him throw the big ones but none landed as he was too fast.

I thought it was going to end up like Rocky 4 in the last round when Valuev's legs buckled, but still, on points it was a great result.

British boxing can't have been in as good a shape since the eighties.

well, I think when Lewis was around when he first got the belts British boxing was in as good if not better state, likewise when Joe Calzaghe got his belt.

British boxing though has always been quite competitive. The HW division has stagnated quite a bit in recent years and Haye is the breath of fresh air needed. He wouldn't last the fight against Lewis or anyone of the Ali, Frazier, Forman era, but he's still good for the belt.

Roll on the Klitchko's. Unify the belts. That would be awesome.

According to the papers, Hayes is a breath of fresh air in the Heavyweight  Division, with the charisma and style to be the next Cassius Clay.  (Mohammed Ali) for the youngsters amongst us.

He has the power, the brains and the technical ability, to keep this an ongoing thing for ages.

That is whilst the papers are singing his praises, so later, they can put their knife in his back, should there be a bad result along the line.

Please prove the papers wrong...

Haye, as long as he stays as disciplined as he did against Valuev, will take out both the Klitschko brothers. They're nothing special, they're again slow and sluggish, except this time Haye can go and attack. They'll still have a height and reach advantage over Haye but nowhere near as much as Valuev. I think he can unify it no problem. Haye is a good boxer, but it shows the state of the heavyweight division at the moment if a cruiserweight can step up like that and not really be caused any problems.
