When one player plays very well, they can make the other look poor. Federer had made it known that he really wanted to win a gold medal for his country.

IMO, Federer's body language looked completely wrong, that is why I posted what I did. I am not saying he wanted to lose, but came out the same way we have seen some Wanderers players turn out, either at the start or half-time of a game. They don't want to lose, but their body language is not coming across as as being right.

| Gold and Bronze for the Brownlee brothers in the Triathlon. Only a 15 second penalty denying them gold and silver. Fantastic triathlon and a brilliant games so far.

Its great !!!
With 4 medals guaranteed in Boxing ( even if "only" Bronze ) we have equalled our best ever effort in the Modern O´s.
And that is regardless of what Hoy, Trott and Pendleton do in the Velodrome later today.

Oh yes. Was thinking more about the longevity of Hoy and Pendleton, but Trott is the future without a doubt.
The young lad Grabarz got the bronze in the high jump as well.

Personally don't know even where they got the name of most of the the events from.
Never heard of most... Apart from a Sprint what is a "keirin". What is a "omnium"., and what do the names mean in simple English Language.
Well done to the athletes that performed, but would feel better, if I knew what the helluva thing what they was doing...
Someday. someone, might please tell me what the words mean...???
Must admit though a Great Medal Tally from Team GB...

I follow athletics even outside of the Olympics, but I have a couple of questions:
I heard Philips Idowu (what an idiot) refer to the long jump as the horizontal jump.
Sop when did the Long Jump become the "Horizontal Jump".
....and does this mean the High Jump is now the "Vertical Jump".

IMO, Federer's body language looked completely wrong, that is why I posted what I did. You can turn that on its head re Wimbledon final. Simply when its just 1 v 1, someone playing v good can make the other look bad. Its just the nature of individual sports

Just for the record, I think the Olympics has been absolutely brilliant!!! Managed to see Gemma gibbons get a silver and tomorrow going to cheer on the very hot Kerry An Payne. (look her up). Best moment for me was the nation anthem when Jess Ennis won Gold. Was spine tingling!! Most proud moment for me ever to be British.
I think Phillips Idowu will look back at his whole attitude to this Olympics with huge regret.

I'm not sure Idowu, openly at least, will regret his attitude. He's pretty arrogant so I doubt he'd admit regret even to those around him. The BOA weren't picking on him when they asked for his medical records. They knew something wasn't right. Now I know that when Paula Radcliffe pulled out of the marathon, they called up a replacement and I just hope that Idowu didn't deny a fit athlete the chance to take part in the games.

Idowu, arrogant but talented.. Nobody else available to GB had achieved the qualification standard so there was no one to draft into the team. Although the cynic in me thinks BOA would have trawled the statistics looking for a convenient Brit.
I was I must admit not bothered by the games, I knew I would watch the Judo and boxing but that would be it for me, somehow the sneaky buggers had drawn me in and I am watching it on my breaks as well as when I get home.

Got the tv via my computer at work.... shame its mostly the German team
Still they gave very good coverage to the Cycling and Athletics especially Hoy and Ennis.
Good job I have British Telly at home
Still I switch channels when they play the German Anthem - ha ha (which hasn´t been to often)

Bolt got the Gold in the 200m, and making Olympic History as the only person to defend both the 100m and 200m titles.
Jamaica got a cleans sweep of the medals taking Gold, Silver and Bronze. Blake who came second, I am sure his time will come to take over from Bolt.
Well done to the Jamaicans...
