Interesting.....
Capello is saying he absolutely does not agree with the FA's decision to remove the England captaincy from Terry, because he's not been found guilty of anything in a civil court. What 'crime' did Terry commit when Capello removed the captaincy from Terry for shagging his mate's partner?
Terry continues to be dogged by controversy, from his selling of tickets gifted to him by the FA, by virtue of him being the country's captain, to his dalliance with a team-mates partner....and now this.
A court may decide that Terry is innocent of any racial comments, but the England captain should be setting an example, yet bad news seems to be attracted to Terry. Plus, he's on his way out of the England team anyway....perhaps even on his way out of Chelsea, after the latest thinking is that Cahill was bought to replace Terry!

I think the difference is Terry did sleep with Bridge's wife, but it's still unknown whether he was racist towards Ferdinand or not.
I don't think he should be picked to be honest. With this cloud hanging over him he should be left out. At least attempt to keep the bad news away from the squad, even though that's practically impossible with the amount of complete numpties in there.

But he committed no offence when he slept with Bridges missus? Some believe that his private life shouldn't have any bearing on his role as captain? My point here is that he committed no offence (other than perhaps a moral one) but had the captaincy removed.
My view is that at the very least, he said something that Ferdinand and others misconstrued....enough for the CPS to bring a case. It seems to be one controversy after another.
I think his England career isn't far from being over anyway. There's too many younger guys waiting in the wings....Same for Rio Ferdinand.

I know it isn't a crime to go around sleeping with people, but as you say it's morally questionable! The difficult scenario here is that Terry is either guilty or not guilty of. Black and white. No morals, just plain racism or no racism.
Terry gets too much attention not to act on both of the occasions, in my opinion. Even if he is eventually found not guilty, there is just too much of a cloud hanging over him. Last edited on Mon Feb 6th, 2012 11:12 am by Woody

| I agree! he should be left out of the squad completely! The thing with this one is that i think everyone knows that he is guilty because of the footage we have all seen and the way it has been dealt with. Innocent until proven guilty has been pretty much ignored because of what people have seen already! he would only upset the dynamics of the squad (again!!) and he would be a huge distraction (agiain!!) to Englands preparations to win the Euro's!

Tbh.....even if he did say what he said in response to stick about his wife/mother and bit on the side, I don't think it should have gone to court. Ferdinand shouldn't give it out unless he's prepared to take it. In that situation, many players would have said anything to get Ferdinand riled. But in the end, they found he was just repeating what had been said to him.
A complete waste of time.

Probably the right time for him.

In a way I'm glad he's retired. With Terry in the England team he would be going to the next World cup and we're going to have enough oldies from the so called "golden age".
So I want the new players to come in. The Cahills etc and to forget about Terry and Ferdinand. We have enough competition there, I'm not sure we have enough competition in midfield and thats why Gerrard and Lampard will be staying for quite sometime.

Most definately forget about him.
One less sick note for the medical team

....and tbh, perhaps not as good as he was, even when fit. Thought he was a decent player in his prime.

Lesser burden of proof in a court and perhaps slightly different charges. Served no purpose IMO, but the FA had to have their day.
