couldn't find the old links so started a new thread.
Just watched Battle: Los Angeles.
Very much Halo in its concept. Brilliant film imo. It was aliens meets black hawk down. Love BHD so for another take on it is great imo.
Felt involved. Wanna kick some alien butt. Bring it on. Lol. Anyone else seen it? It's a bloke film, but it's one that gets most aspects of a classic in it, there's the fighting, the hero, the enemy, the humanity, only thing missing - which I liked - was the romance. No need for it when seeing marines fighting an enemy.
Would love it if they did Battle: UK and Battle: etc which is real time to the war and ties in with each previous film but with vital parts to play from each area. i.e. RAF get the advantage once the LA get rid of the master control, or the Gurkha's go and bite the shit out of them because they're out of ammo haha.
So, anyway, films, new releases, box office releases, DVD, Sky etc, what you looking forward to seeing or any old classics you have recently checked in on all over again? I recently revisited The Thing in anticipation of the new film which is a prequel to the classic.

I want to see the Woman in Black. Have seen the stage version, and it's pretty spooky for a play. There have been mixed reviews, but I still want to see it.
I've watched J Edgar, but it's a bit hit and miss. I watched it because I'd read various things about him and wanted to get a better story. But I'm not sure it dealt with all the things I'd heard about him?

Even though Radcliffe is the lead Billy? I think he's an excruciatingly bad actor.
I've read the book which is half decent for what it is, but I'm very put off the film by Radcliffe.
Not so much a film, but the documentary 'Senna' is outstanding and well worth a watch. I was very pleased when it picked up a couple of BAFTAs, thoroughly deserved. I went with a friend who had absolutely no interest in motor racing and he loved it, I'd say it's a must see. Tragic and yet amazingly inspiring, beautifully put together.

I've only watched the odd Harry Potter film, so I go into it with no hang-ups about Radcliffe. Tbh, I really enjoyed the West End production of it, and I'd just like to see it on the big screen.
Perhaps we should turn this into a review thread?

During the stage show, there was a particular moment that made the audience jump. Only it made one person shriek....."F*ckin' hell". Cue a theatre full of people staring (and laughing) at a 14 year old boy who was there with his parents. They were sliding down their seats in embarrassment. Can't wait to see the film.

Went to the Star Wars Episode One 3D showing tonight.
You forget how good it is really. 3D doesn't add much, but I do love Star Wars.

Watched 11-11-11 the other day. Started well, went downhill from there. Watched some seriously hardcore horrors too lately. You know the ones, the ones which leave you feeling a little on edge and strange after viewing, the type that you were never meant to watch, the ones they tried to ban. If you wanna know more about these, just let me know, i'll point you in the right direction.
going back to mainstream horrors. Ever watched The Ring? I didn't know there was a Ring 2 and last year a Ring 3. Gonna watch them now.
Just started The Ring 2. Also just bought a new airwick freshmatic. airwick freshmatics and horror films don't mix... here comes the scary part.... PFFFFFSSSSSHHHHT!

Well, went watching Woman in Black and can only say...BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!
I'm not usually one who is easily scared, but i was with this film. And it's weird how when everybody is scared they scream, then laugh, then cough! And it was a full house as well. Good atmosphere

I finally went to see The Woman in Black last night. Obviously, I had to turn around 15 minutes in and tell the gaggle of middle aged women behind us to stop yakking!! Honestly, why do they pay to sit in a cinema if they want to exercise their jaws?
I had seen it in the theatre, so I had high expectations for the film. My wife felt that the theatre play was scarier.....she's probably right, because the live acting combined with a small dark theatre creates a better atmosphere. But that shouldn't take anything away from the film.
Daniel Radcliffe was totally believable as the lead character. Moody, scared, sad, determined. I have seen one or two of the Harry Potter films, but you should erase that from your mind and go and see him. I thought he was perfect for the role, and it bodes well for his future. I would say that I did jump in one or two places, but it was the very real chills down my spine that I got at certain points in the film that got to me.
I would recommend it to anyone, and I'd say, don't wait for the DVD. This is a film you should see on the big screen.

seen both versions of dark water. seen both versions of rthe grudge films too. The Japanese make great horrors.
Watch Audition. Sit through the first hour and allow yourself to get bored as it'll make the ending better.

i've seen more disturbing films than that, but yea, you need a 5 minute sit down and quiet time to come to terms with what you've just seen after watching it.
There's films i dont think i'll mention here though as i don't want people watchin them, nothing good can be taken from them and will make you feel really uneasy afterward. Horrors and pyschological films that i never thought existed.
I think i'm gonna watch a mainstream film now, The Thing (2011 prequel to the classic)

Honestly i avoid films like Audition, or at least ones with sadistic tone.
i only watched it for a class in college.
as far as genuine chills go i thought timecrimes was a scary film.
Not much actually gives me a fright but some scenes in that did.
the latest Thing film was utter rubbish IMO, although the CGI effects on the deaths are a laugh.

| Just seen the trailer for the hobbit. It looks brilliant. I loved lotr trilogy and the trailer appears well in keeping with it, as you'd expect. Jackson has another good film on his hands.

Have all the Dvd's of the Lord of the Rings, including the Hobbit. Originally some are in aminated formats, in which for a youngster to watch could be quite harrowing.
Think that the Films, helped to bring the film back to life, as the original story.
Must admit, I would like to see "The Hobbit", with actors playing the parts.
After all, It is a great story...
