Off topic, but is there any chance that we can have a maximum width to threads.
It is bad enough me scrolling Up and Down, besides also having to scroll from Side to Side.
Just a thought.....

(After 61 years, you either have Bolton inside you, or you start supporting another Team)... Since I haven't started supporting another Team, tells my side of the story).

I suppose we could go like Twitter and have a maximum number of characters. Though this cuts out some of the more interesting debating points, e.g the Peter Harrison letter and any allegations of financial wrong doings by the club (thats if any of taken place).

Of course we need more points than our rivals, otherwise we'd go down.
The only point I made was that two months ago, you'd be laughed at for suggesting the clubs at the bottom would beat the clubs at the top. We were ALL absolutely dreadful. Of course freak results happen. But predicting that Wigan were suddenly going to start playing like a top four team was something nobody could have done.
To be fair this isn't unusaul. Some seasons bottom clubs do beat the clubs at the top, though I have to admit that I didn't see this happening so late in the season. I'd have put this happening around Jan / Feb time.
Last season Wolves stayed up with 40 points (which had been unusual from previous seasons) where as West Ham stayed up with 35 points in 2009 / 2010. 2008 / 2009 Hull stayed up with 35 points. Some teams have stayed up on as few as 34 points!
Yet for us 2001/2002 season we stayed up on 40 points (this is the most other teams have had to stay up on except us). But the footballing Gods tested our metal even further as we needed a staggering 44 points to stay up 2002 /2003 season a full 9 points more than West Ham and Hull needed to stay up in 2009 and 2008. Thats what I mean about us needing more than other teams. It always seems that more competitive when we're involved in relegation scraps. This season is not going to be an exception either. It may be that we will need as many as 42 points to stay up as we have got such a mountain to climb to stay up.
This weekend could be crucial. If all the teams win this weekend then I think we will need 42 points and above to stay up. On any given day any team can win... but it may be as low as 37 to stay up as well. We have to play one game at a time, and look to maximize points and play competitively... something we failed to do in 3/4 of the games this year. Stay at the level from the second half of the AV game, and we'll survive.
I'm pretty sure that 37 points will not be enough. QPR are on 34 points with a better goal difference than us. I have already put QPR down for a win against City and i wouldn't be suprised if QPR beat Stoke. That is why I am pretty sure 41 / 42 points is the total we need. that means we need to win 3 out of 4 matches.
As I have tried to point out, Bolton are not the luckiest of teams. We will need more points than normal to stay up. You can never tell at the end of a season, when teams are playing for nothing at the midtable, who will show up. My worst fear is 4 teams tying with 37 and we lose out because of our GD. The last month has had more surprises from QPR and Wigan than I cared for. Had the big teams won, we would be sitting pretty. Now we have to go out and play to win and play with passion and desire to stay up. I'll bet one of these teams or more, don't win a game out of their 3 remaining. It might even be AV. Who knows... certainly not Lawro. Let's hope we get to at least 39 this season. I hope our inspired team shows up for our last 4 games.

1997 season we were relegated on 40 points on goal difference to Everton.
The most points needed to stay in the Premier league was clocked by Oldham who needed 49 points, but in those days it was a 42 game season. Bolton are next with 44 points on a 38 game season.

It was because of my picture of SKD. Apologies, bdi.
