Reebok's 22 year record of sponsoring the Wanderers Kit has come to an end, whilst Adidas will be sponsoring the shirt from the start of the 2012/13 season.

Reebok will continue the sponsorship of the Stadium, as they seek to maintain their strong relationship with the club.

I am hoping that now Adidas is sponsoring the kit, there will be a wider range of outlets where it is available to buy, although I suppose that depends on their marketing policy.

Or is that me just wishful thinking...  :)  Probably...

Adidas took over Reebok in 2006, so nothing really has changed. I never quite understand why there is always this pretence that you have split when Reebok are these days effectively only a sub department of Adidas and no longer an individual firm (see wikopedia)2006

Also from Reebok website

"In January 2006, adidas-Salomon AG acquired Reebok, forever altering the worldwide sporting goods industry landscape. Shortly after the close of the acquisition, Reebok Chairman and CEO Paul Fireman announced he was leaving the company to pursue other interests, and Paul Harrington was named President and CEO of the Reebok brand. Today, the adidas Group, which includes the adidas, Reebok, TaylorMade-adidas Golf and Rockport brands is a global leader in the sporting goods industry and offers a broad portfolio of products. Products from the adidas Group are available in virtually every country of the world. Activities of the company and its more than 80 subsidiaries are directed from the Group's headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. "

The club have also said that the name will remain (unless of course some multi billionaire comes along and wants to change it's name)

Whats not been said and more important to us fans is How much money are they going to put into the club?

So don't worry folks for Adidas read Reebok

Hopefully with Adidas we will get a simpler design like Chelsea or Liverpool. Fed up of the atrocious kits that Reebok have churned out for us over the last five years. Truly horrendous.

Well hopefully there'll be more kits bought to make up for reduced / lack of sponsorship from Reebok. As Reebok are taking a reduced role (no office space / no kit sponsorship) I'll be suprised if when the agreement is renewed theres the same or more money on the table.

I seem to remember that they were going to use Adidas for group sports and Reebok for individual sports and rappers. But obviously Reebok's sponsorship of Bolton caused a problem for that. I'm sure there's plenty of counter-examples to that rule, but that is how I remember it.

Always thought that when Adidas took over Reebok, they wanted the name Reebok for the USA market, where it is more popular, whilst Adidas is the more popular seller in Europe..

I might be wrong, but I thought that I had read that somewhere, that was the reason for takeover...

well they were never going to wipe away the brand name Reebok. They've certainly rebranded it though and henceforth we saw the most horrible kits known to man.

Just wish someone would take over the sponsorship from 188bet, although will admit that it looks decent, and a lot better than what we have had recently.

Cromy, didn't someone from Norwich get done for this... :D

If they made the orange bit black it wouldn't be as bad.

We have another two years of the 188 bet deal. It's given us £750,000 for the privilege which will be the last time for a while we will get more for our shirt sponsorship than Wigans, as they're in the Prem andwe're not. So we should count our blessings.

Any chance now of going back to one home kit and one away kit released alternate seasons, so that a kit lasts for two seasons a piece? It's been damn expensive this last 4 seasons! Granted, I don't have to buy them, but I like the little lad to have one. At least his comes without the great big orange sponsorship logo!

Is it just me who liked last seasons kits then? I thought they were the best of the 188bet era.

They've all been horrible in their own way. The bits of the kit that are white are nice, it's just a shame they have to ruin it with ridiculous blue bits, either asymmetric bits or sports-bra bits.

What's wrong with all white and if absolutely necessary to add blue, blue adidas style stripes on the shoulders or something?

Reading between the lines, Addidas are rationalising their product lines, with the Addidas brand being used for sport while the Reebok brand being more focussed towards fitness and fitness-based style.  With the success of Classics and Rockport it probably makes sense but it will be interesting whether they try and renegotiate the American Football deal under the Addidas brand.

I suppose they have to do something drastic each time, so it looks different enough to bring out a new one each year. There's only so much you can do with an all white kit until you have to add some colour somewhere.

Still, I say one kit every two seasons, £30 for adults - £15 for kids (25% discount on production of your season ticket - one top per ticket) - they'd sell a lot more than at the ridiculous £40 per top! It's a bloody top at the end of the day, currently made in Vietnam (this last lot was) - they shouldn't be that expensive!

They seem to manage ok with Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City etc.....

One colour with subtle variations, no big splashes of a contrasting colour.

Yeah, you're right - apart from that awful black 'V' thing on the united kit a couple of seasons ago!

Maybe they should come up with 2 or 3 designs, and put it out there for the fans to decide what they would like - have each strip worn by a dummy in the club shop (no jokes, please) and vote on your favourite over the latter half of the season.

I like last season's away strip but have not been able to buy a white top for 5 years now.

Chester have recently tried this idea giving the fans a pick of 4 designs, 1 with the most votes becomes the new home kit for next season (IMO they were all terrible but at least they got to choose).

Is it me or do a lot of recently made kits look like they were made of spandex!:Whip:

Maybe that's what we needed, coz we had no superhero's in our team this season!

Well the new kit is much better than the crap Reebok has given us over the last few years.
