In order to maintain a healthy and enjoyable atmosphere on BoltonBanter, we appreciate it if users kindly co-operate with the following guidelines. These guidelines are in place to ensure that BoltonBanter remains a pleasant site to visit, and to prevent unnecessary conflicts on the forums. Failure to comply with these rules and policies may result in your banishment from the site.
Should a user have any problems or issues regarding any subject on the forum or the acts of any other user, they should refer the matter to the Moderators to deal with. It is not the place of users to moderate or in any way govern or judge others.

Any issues should be reported to us using the online form here.

There are two main principal guidelines:

1. Be courteous and polite. Show respect to the opinions and feelings of others. Use of the forums is a privilege, not a right.

2. Engage your brain before your mouth. You are responsible for your own words and any harm they may cause.

The moderators are here to check that we don't publish material that is unlawful or obscene, or breaks the House Rules in any other way. The type of moderation we use is 'reactive moderation'.

This means that the moderators only look at content that members and readers of the site have alerted them to by using the Private Message function. If you believe that any content breaks the house rules, please PM a mod or site admin (they are listed for each forum) to alert them to this. The moderator or admin will then take a look at the post and make a decision on how to deal with it.

The owners of BoltonBanter reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread with or without reason or notice. Polite enquiries will be listened to. Any form of harassment will not be tolerated and is cause for instant banishment from the site.

By registering with BoltonBanter, you agree to the following guidelines and policies.

BoltonBanter Policy

All of the following guidelines have been formulated according to specific problems that we have encountered in the past, and wish to prevent in the future, in the interests of maintaining a level of respect amongst users on BoltonBanter.

Derogatory, anti-social or inflammatory remarks aimed at any group of people, with the intention to incite a mass response are totally unacceptable here.

Disputes between members

Where disputes occur between members, site admins/mods will contact both parties in an attempt to calm the situation. Failure by either party to respond, may result in further action being taken.

Where any dispute includes a mod/site admin, the matter will be dealt with by another mod/site admin. The mod/site admin at the centre of the dispute will take no part in any subsequent disciplinary procedure or discussion on the matter.

The site admins/mods reserve the right to impose a ban (whether permanent or temporary) where they feel a situation warrants it. The site admins/mods may subsequently make a statement regarding any ban, but they will not enter into any debate on the legitimacy of any such ban, or accept any petitions for reinstatement.

Regarding Private Messaging; Anything regarding PM content is confidential unless complaints and/or legalities require otherwise. All PM contact is the sole responsibility of the author and no responsibility will be taken by the moderators/site admin of the board. The Administrators and Moderators will not be drawn into public discussions regarding banning of members, whether it be permanent or otherwise. Admin and Moderators decisions are final.

We believe that these guidelines are fair and acceptable, and that all users should respect our reasons for keeping them in place. The admins and mods are not there to police everyone, but rather to protect users from offensive or unlawful content.

Should a user have any problems or issues regarding any subject on the forum or the acts of any other user, they are encouraged to contact the Administrators who will attend to the matter.

We hope that you enjoy BoltonBanter!
