I think he's had an okay season so far, but its becoming more obvious as the season wears on that come 75 minutes, he has very little left in the tank. Last season for me as a first 11 pick I think.

It seems to be different in different games though. I can't for the life of me remember which game it was, but it was Speed who at one point whipped in a cross which got defended, which the other team then broke from, running the whole length of the pitch, and who was there to block the final ball outside our area? Good old Speedo!

HG - thank christ for that, I thought you were losing it re: Faye!

Legend, if he thinks he can't cut it in the first team he will put his hand up and I expect and hope Bolton offer him a player coach role as the guy has so much to offer this club. And he is not even my favourite player.
Speedo......so good you named him twice!! :P

That is the Torettes kicking in... in kin in

If we finish 5th, then we are as close to the title as we can reasonably get.

Just come back from Ladbrokes after having a small flutter on the horses, (Just had to have a bet on Super Frank), and the odds on Bolton to finish Top minus the Big 4  were 4/5.  The next best odds were 9/2 (didn't get the name of that team), so it looks like we are definitely the bookies favourite to finish 5th in the Premiership.  It will be an amazing achievement if we do.

That's why I don't understand much of the negativity. What do people genuinely expect from the team. 4th place would be like winning the CL when you put it into context. So 5th for me is like winning the title.......and we are well placed to do that.

Billy I don't think 4th is quite like winning the CL or 5th like winning the title but both are immense acheivements. 5th will make me very very happy and 4th is, to be honest, not even on my radar really so I have no idea how I would feel if we did get there.

If we actually did win the PL or CL then I would probably be happy for the rest of my life.

I suppose so, but the point I was making is that 5th is as high as we can realistically achieve.

No dispute there but we still wouldn't have won anything. It is starting to get to the point where anything less than 5th will now be a disappointment - imagine having said that 5 years ago.

We've always got the cup.

I've already made sure nothing gets in my diary for cup final weekend. FA Cup and fifth place - now that really would be a celebration.

Bolton Wanderes have 15 Players on International Duty next week.  To me that speaks for itself as to how far we have come over the last few years.

But let's not get carried away by the fact that the best manager in England (and one of the best in the world) now knows how to beat us effectively. Manure are the only team this season to have completely got to grips with us - with embarrassing results, I agree, but we shouldn't lose all perspective. We are still 5th but do need to turn things around at home in two weeks. If we win our remaining home ties then we will be in the Uefa cup. If we don't then the seasxon may end in disappointment again.

We are still 5th. But the gulf in class between us and the team 4 places higher than us, is simply massive. Yes, that's nearly all down to resources, but still, they have blown us away twice and recent results suggest there is a lot of work to be done to secure a uefa spot.

Agree completely but let's not give up yet.

thats not true im pretty sure spurs and boro got to grips with us aswell with as you say embarrassing results!

Even Wigan and Reading got to grips with us aswell they ran riot... dare i say Watford took the piss out of us at the reebok aswell. all in all i think alot of teams have been much better than us in games we've drawn or won!

Spurs did at WHL (and I nearly added that maybe Jol has figured it out now as well) but we made lome look ordinary at The Reebok. The point with Manure is they can do it to us at will none of the others can. As for the Boro game, they started with some luck and then we fell to pieces.

Is it the case that Sam realises the team is ageing and that is why he is bringing in these young players for next season???

Sam said last summer, I think, he wanted to lower the overall age of the squad.

I wouldn't complain if that was the team but my scoring in fantasy league shows exactly how much I know.

Can I ask why?

I mean, Faye is as defensive as they come and sure, he's good for a crunching challenge or two in that position, but is that what we need agaist Sheffield United at home? We are better than that.

This is exactly the type of game, that without Campo in the holding role, we should play 4-4-2. Nobody in our side is going to be able to dictate a game the way Campo can (albeit, he's been doing less and less of it lately).

So, let's get it out to the wings. Let's feed Anelka and Davies with chance after chance, let's get back to winning ways with a bang. Let's do to Sheffield United what Manchester United do to us. Let's attack from the off and go into half time a couple of goals ahead.

Let's not go into this game looking for a 1-0 from a set piece. :banghead:

For me, it is about time Nolan warmed the bench. He is simply not worth his place in the team at present and the kick up the ass could be just what he needs, in the hope that his dip in form could be due to it being a 'given' that he is in the team. As stated by others, a few changes are a must at this point as we are playing shocking. If the squad players don't get a chance now then there seems little point in having them as Sam must think they are not upto the job.
