Don't know if anyone knew, but Big Sam, Phil Brown, Speedo, Nobby and Jussi are partners of the Horse "European Dream". Had a big win at Newcastle on Saturday at 14 - 1 on the flat. Unfortunately couldn't manage to get a bet on him. Have been following it for a while now, since it won in November over hurdles at 12 - 1. Don't know if anyone follws horses, but one worth keeping an eye out for it.

Yeah, I saw that too. They've won a little bit with him (28kish) but all in low grade races. Still, he's only a baby and if he's going down the jumps route (which it looks like) then he's made a great start.
Watched a couple of his races on ATR archives and he's not the world's most fluent jumper but with a bit of care he should improve nicely and will probably pay for himself even if he doesn't make any serious money.

C.B., So did Me and Mr Man, but our bet was on it winning the 2.40 at Newbury. No wonder it lost, it would have been knackered, Newbury and Nottingham at the same time. Lol ( came 19th out of 23 runners ).
I should suggest that Big Sam should not run the horse on Match Days. Last time out it won and Bolton won. This time out it lost and Bolton lost.
If he is going to run it on Match Days, at least let it run in a later race, then if Bolton win, we all know where to put our money. Everyone all round is then happy.

European Dream is running in the 3.20 at Chester today. In the paper the Odds are 14 - 1. A fiver Each-Way should give just under £100 back including stake money. £97.50 to be exact. (Would pay for my petrol money to the Villa Game). Do I have a bet or not. Last edited on Wed May 9th, 2007 07:43 am by bdi

| It's at 17's on Betfair......but the betting reflects it's chances.

Realise that, but occasionally an outsider does come in. Even a placing would double the stake.

Came in 6th of 11 4L behind the winner in a field spread across about 6L so not a performance to blow anyone away really. They obviously meant business given they booked one of the best jocks in the business, John Egan, to ride him.
He's a nutter though - got done for stalking his ex-missus and trying to shoot her whilst drink driving but I think he's alright now. Willie McKay looked after him whilst he was on bail you know.
The winner, trivia fans, was the 50/1 shot Temple Place for Ginger McCain's lad Donald.

Was checking up on the horse and seems that its best performances have been around the 2 mile distance although when younger had a couple of decent performances around the 1 mile distance.
Think I will keep an eye open when its in a race at the longer distances. The horses strike rate is around the 27% mark, which considering its only 4 years is not too bad. It will never be a classic horse, but believe it will do reasonably well in Group 2 races.
Just for interest sake the owners of the horse when checking its stats is shown as "Our Trotters"

I disagree. The horse is showing no kind of form in G2 races so far. His better (although still not staggering) 2m form is over hurdles in low grade races which would have little bearing on his flat form anyway. The one G2 win he had was a rather freak race where both of the favourites ran badly and scoped dirty afterwards and he has finished 6/11 and 15/23 in comparable races since against not fantastic opposition.
I think the horse is likely to pay its way but I don't think JP McManus needs to watch his back just yet.
He is also VERY heavily raced. 18 times in the past year. That's too much in my opinion - he deserves a summer holiday and I hope they give him one.

I was at Chester yesterday on a corporate jollee through work and had money on European Dream for sentimental reasons, it never looked like it was going to win. I did get to meet a couple of the horses owners (Messers Speed and Jaaskelainen) They were nice and friendly and had a bit of a chat with them.
Didn't have money on the 50/1 shot but did have a fiver each way on Greenwich mean time which came home at 14/1

E D is running again today in the 4.30 at Haydock. Will most likely be the favourite after winning last time out at Ripon last Sunday.
(Damm!! don't look at horse meeting that are held on Sundays. :hang: )
So looks like a trip to Ladbrokes at Lunchtime for me then.

Just got back from Ladbrokes and got my bet on E D.
Was thinking of going for a Treble
European Dream Haydock 4.30
Bolton Hall Pontrefact 6.30
The AldBury Flyer. Newmarket 4.05
Decided on my original bet though.

E D is running in the 3.50 at Redcar today. (Shouldn't take too long to get there from either Newcastle or Hull, so BSA and Browny should be happy with that).
So have just had returned from another trip to Ladbrokes. Like last time have permed it with a couple of other horses, so am hoping for a similar outcome today. Last time although a Non-Runner, managed to come out winning double my stake.
Lets hope that today is not a :hang: day.

Don't know if anyone is aware, or even bothered, but European Dream is running in the Big Race this Saturday "The Cambridgeshire".
Trainer Richard Guest, says that the horse has been rested, and been trained especially for this race. Also goes on that he fancies the horses chances, especially if there is a little more rain before Saturday. IMO can't really say anything else.
To also try and give the Horse every chance, he has got apprentice jockey Neil Brown to ride, since this will give a 5lb allowance.
Will be checking the Odds after our EUFA Game. If favourable, will have a flutter.
